I New Idea Society sono stati fondati a un unico, semplice, scopo: registrare canzoni che siano sonoramente eccitanti. Nei loro precedenti album, la sperimentazione lo-fi di You Are Awake Or Asleep, e la performance live in studio di The World Is Bright And Lonely, sono state un tentativo di affermarsi attraverso approcci musicali differenti. L'EP “Quiet Prism”, grazie a un nuovo utilizzo di melodie e synth, rappresenta un ulteriore indizio per comprendere ciò che i NIS possono offrire. The New Idea Society began when Stephen Brodsky and Mike Law moved to Boston from the suburbs. They had been friends for some time, meeting while playing in various bands, and decided to share an apartment. Since both had a love for cassette 4-track recording and making noise in front of microphones, it was inevitable that they would end up doing some of it together. The original goal was to learn some of each other’s songs so they could just sit around and play together when they felt like it.
