Un nome nuovo per l'ennesimo progetto di un autore che ha tracciato un personalissimo percorso nella musica indipendente americana dell'ultimo decennio: Glorytellers è l'ultima creatura artistica di Geoff Farina, già mente, voce e leader carismatico degli indimenticabili Karate. Staccata la corrente agli amplificatori, accantonate le sperimentazioni jazzy e acquisita nel frattempo una spiccata sensibilità melodica, Farina si applica adesso al recupero di classiche sonorità alt-country, in prevalenza incentrate sulla chitarra e interpretate secondo la sua sensibilità, così come sviluppata attraverso le diverse esperienze maturate nel corso degli anni. Affiancato dal batterista Jeffrey Goddard, suo compagno d'avventura già ai tempi dei Karate, e da altri musicisti attivi in band di diversa estrazione, Farina si diletta in un evidente omaggio alla tradizione americana, elaborando un registro sonoro dichiaratamente vintage, ma non per questo stantio o prevedibile. www.geofffarina.com www.myspace.com/glorytellers

  Geoff Farina plays guitar, sings, and writes music for Karate, the Secret Stars, and as a solo artist. In the past decade he has performed more than 600 concerts in the US and Europe, visiting venues as diverse as MTV's Supersonic, Denmark's Roskilde Festival, Pittsburg's Andy Warhol Museum, and Brussels' Royal Botanical Gardens. His music has appeared in independent films such as Staccato Purr of the Exhaust , a film featured in the 1996 Sundance Film Festival. He has collaborated with Jed Speare, Teho Teardo, Ida, Chris Brokaw, Dug Dineen, Alissa Cardone, Zu, Jodi Buonanno, and other artists in the US and Europe. With Karate and his other projects he has released over 20 recordings, collectively selling an estimated 100,000 CDs, LPs, and singles worldwide. Geoff holds a BA from Berklee College of Music and an MA from the University of Massachusetts, where he wrote a thesis called Humans and Hardware: a History of Analog Music Synthesis. He taught Music Theory, Guitar, and English Composition at the University of Massachusetts and elsewhere. He also modifies and repairs guitar amplifiers, and has worked with Bill Finnegan, designer of the Klon Centaur overdrive pedal. Geoff regularly writes articles for Tape Op magazine on amplifier modification that were recently anthologized in a book called Tape Op: The Book About Creative Music Recording.
